Gathering the clan around the table for a zero-effort, zero-time home-cooked meal is one of the most liberating benefits of a villa vacation. Taman Sorga’s long-serving cook is a wizard in the kitchen, whipping up dishes from an extensive suggestions menu of Indonesian, Asian and international dishes to cater to all tastes. All meals are served family-style, i.e. with shared dishes. The cook is also happy to tailor meals to accommodate any special dietary requirements, and is used to cooking for the different tastes of children too.
Partake of breakfast by the pool surrounded by tropical blooms, linger over a leisurely three-course lunch on the dining terrace, and then enjoy a candle-lit dinner in the formal dining room, accompanied by world-class wines available to villa guests at wholesale prices. With two days’ notice, you can also enjoy some excellent Japanese cuisine, as one of the staff spent years working in a Japanese restaurant in Los Angeles. Another Villa Taman Sorga specialty is a magnificent Mongolian barbecue, available on advance request.
Villa Taman Sorga’s food and beverage service is run on a cash basis, with no extra service charge other than a tiny petrol allowance. Simply provide a cash float when you arrive, and staff will ask for a top-up when necessary; staff will do the provisioning and present receipts for an end-of-stay reckoning. To allow the cook time to shop and prepare, it’s necessary to order in advance – either the evening before or at breakfast time each day.
